Job Description
On a day-to-day basis, you will manage the infrastructure that delivers the self-managed & managed services to our customers in our server brands based in the UK.
You should have at least 5 years’ recent experience as a Linux/Windows administrator/engineer specifically within the ISP industry.
This is a fast-paced and varied role requiring a strong candidate, accustomed to responsibility, able to apply themselves effectively across multiple technologies in different areas of our UK business.
This role is either completely remote (UK-based only, occasional office travel required) or working from our Worcester or Reading offices. Completely remote candidates should have existing experience of remote working.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting existing platforms, ensuring optimal operation and uptimes of systems and services.
- Design and deploy new customer and product solutions.
- Document solutions and builds to provide a knowledgebase to other administrators.
- Resolve escalated issues, sharing with and coaching other departmental staff.
- Liaise with customers to ensure the smooth running of systems and roadmap future requirements.
- Occasional travel to various offices and data centres.
Required skills and experience:
- Very strong IT skills in an Internet-facing environment.
- Strong Windows Server administration skills in a hosting environment.
- Strong experience involving SQL systems admin, specifically MSSQL Server MySQL/MariaDB.
- Experience with common web platforms (Umbraco, Magento, WordPress) and their setup/operation.
- Experience managing virtualisation platforms (KVM, VMware)
- Familiarity with backup solutions (Veeam, R1soft, Acronis).
- Experience with load balancing and HA platforms (DB replication, load balancing).
- Knowledge and experience with at least one shell scripting language (I.e. bash, PowerShell etc).
- Knowledge and experience with configuration management tooling (I.e., Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Salt etc).
- Experience with handling security issues and access control mechanisms.
- Experience with change management and configuration policies.
The following would be advantageous:
- Vendor experience: Juniper, Fortinet, Dell Servers
- Experience of working with or managing equipment in a datacentre environment

Working Hours:
Your usual work hours will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. working in a team, Monday to Friday inclusive over two differing shifts. However, these may be subject to alteration by the dictates of the business. Participation in an on-call rota is required.
